2010 to present…Technical manager for Berkeley Springs Instruments (BSI). Responsible for design and development of ultrasonic sensors & robotic devices and for the production of non-destructive testing devices and remote monitoring systems. Daily use of a wide range of design software to communicate requirements to vendors, customers and peers. Regular R&D at BSI includes robotic, sensor, network, battery storage and RF as well as ultrasonic transducers.

2008 to present... Designer, builder & consultant serving public agencies and private firms. Broad skill set providing contractual services including schematic design through construction of buildings and public art projects. Designer of sustainable homes and construction document sets for private commercial firms, as well as estimation services for affordable housing projects.

2000 to 2008… Project Manager, Taylor Architecture, LLC. Coordinated residential and commercial projects from schematic design through construction. Work included historic preservation grants: local, state and federal historic preservation tax credits for clients redeveloping historic sites in Cumberland, Maryland and environs.

1998 to 2000...Technical Specialist with Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Kelly-Springfield Division tire technology, responsible for mold design production (2d and 3d CAD). Tire tread and mold design work on multiple brands for the replacement tire market.

June 1996 to May 1998...Marketing consultant, CROPP Cooperative, LaFarge, Wisconsin. Steven led a push to create a new pool of dairy farmers in the Mid-Atlantic states for CROPP, a member owned dairy products marketing business selling products nationally under the Organic Valley label. In this capacity, he conducted meetings and informed farmers and growers of the system and market options and explained organic certification requirements and methods.

June 1991 to May 1998...Co-manager of Double Strand Ranch, Ltd., a diversified 338 acre farm specializing in mixed vegetable produce and beef cattle. Responsible for all aspects of business management. Assisted county-wide start-up of Mountain Fresh Farmer's Markets in Cumberland, LaVale and Frostburg in 1992 and 1993. Administration of 125-family CSA (community-based project), 1994-96.
