December, 2010 to the present...Project Manager for Berkeley Springs Instruments, Product Manager of Sentry Systems, a wireless corrosion-monitoring and risk management system which uses ultrasonic sensors and cloud-based software to provide facilities managers and engineers real-time data on their assets including pipe wall thickness, temperature, vibration, flow rate, humidity, and other environmental parameters.

August 2008 to the present...Self-employed builder and design consultant to public agencies and private firms. Broad skill set providing contractual services including schematic design through construction, estimation and planning, as well as hands-on building. Responsible for designs of sustainably built homes, construction document sets for private commercial firms, and estimation services for affordable housing projects.

July 2000 to August 2008… Project Manager, Taylor Architecture, LLC. Steven was responsible for the coordination of residential and commercial projects from schematic design through construction with budgets up to 20 million dollars. For four years as project manager to clients with historic buildings in downtown Cumberland, Steven researched preservation issues of each building, applied for grants, managed local , state and federal historic preservation tax credits totaling almost half a million dollars. Manager of office’s residential home and neighborhood design work in Scottsdale, Arizona.

May 1998 to July 2000...Technical Specialist with Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Kelly-Springfield Division tire technology, responsible for mold design production (2d and 3d CAD) in the Template Section. Primary use of Catia/Pro-Cadam software to implement tread design programs of multiple brands in replacement tire market.

August to December 1997...Adjunct Professor, Frostburg State University, teaching 2-dimensional Design, Department of Visual Art. Taught majors and non-majors basic principles of design using a unique syllabus which included lectures, slide presentations, demonstrations and readings.

June 1996 to May 1998...Marketing consultant, CROPP Cooperative, LaFarge, Wisconsin. Steven led a push to create a new pool of dairy farmers in the Mid-Atlantic states for CROPP, a member owned dairy products marketing business selling products nationally under the Organic Valley label. In this capacity, he conducted meetings and informed farmers and growers of the system and market options, and explained organic certification requirements and methods.

June 1991 to May 1998...General Manager of Double Strand Ranch, Ltd., a diversified 338 acre farm specializing in mixed produce and beef cattle. Responsible for all aspects of business management. Assisted county-wide start-up of Mountain Fresh Farmer's Markets in Cumberland, LaVale and Frostburg in 1992 and 1993. Administration of 125-family CSA (community-based project), 1994-96. Steven continues to manage this family-held farm as an avocation. Farm is enrolled in State of Maryland Forest Stewardship Program, and primary activities involve forest, recreation and wildlife management practices.
